Mrs Keane

The cello is taught by Mrs Keane from Harrow Music Service.  Mrs Keane has been teaching at St John's and other Harrow schools for a number of years.

She started learning the cello at the age of 9 in small group lessons at primary school and joined the local Saturday young musicians orchestra after a couple of years.

After leaving school, she gained a B.Mus degree from Lancaster University, graduating with first class honours in performance and winning the Director of Music Recital Prize.

Following that, Mrs Keane has played professionally for orchestras, quartets and regularly given recitals as part of a professional trio. She has even played on T.V.!

Mrs Keane has always loved teaching. She spent a year obtaining a postgraduate teaching certificate and has  loved seeing youngsters develop as musicians and as people. Several have gained places at well known schools with their playing, including The Purcell School. Several have joined the local youth orchestra and continued their love of playing at University and in amateur orchestras beyond that. Some have followed a career in music themselves either as players, composers or administrators.
