Year 4's trip to the Opera!
On July 11th, Year 4 went to Aylward school to watch a professional operatic performance which had been designed especially for children. Pavillion Opera Company were the people who put this opera experience on, specifically for Primary School children to experience operatic music.
The concert came after weeks of work by the Year 4 children who had been busy studying the script of the opera and acting it out to make sure that they understood the story line. The children also made hats which they took with them to the performance.
The performance was a huge success and the children were enthralled by the singing, which they hadn't heard until the actual day! Even though the singing was in a foreign language, the children were able to follow the story line due to their hard preparation in class.
Arts Award - Discover
All of the children in Year 4 achieved the Discover Arts Award which is from Trinity College in London. This was because of their hard work that they had put into the Opera Project. The children completed their booklet, detailing their creative learning throughout the project and all of the children were awarded their certificates in assembly.
